Early in the days of our research
for Reclamation Stone, as we scoured the architectual salvage yards
for inspiration, it became clear that the sources of original treasures
had all but dried up. The few items that did become available from
time to time bore exhorbitant price tags.

So was born the idea to design
and manufacture a collection of compatible components from which
Folly designers can pick and choose to create their own individual
monument. The Gothic design is softer and more sympathetic in an
English country garden than classical grandure and the rustic finish
of Reclamation Stone, which conveys instant maturity, combines readily
with timber, brick and informal plant material. Much of the inspiration
for the Gothic Folly is drawn from ecclesiastical architecture and
hardly surprisingly from Wells Cathedral, just down the road from
the Stoneworks.

The design of the tracery window
is based on the shape of the famous scissor arch in the heart of
Wells Cathedral which was installed to bear the weight of an over
ambitious tower. However, careful thought has been given to the
size and scale of the components to ensure they work with modern
building practices.

Within this section you will find
material suitable for the grandest of designs or smallest of features
- something suitable for every garden, large or small.
|
|
Although the various components
are all standard there are infinite variations in the way they can
be incorporated in a Folly design, the only ingredient you need
to add is your own imagination.
